I can't speak on safety for patrol officers because I can't formulate a research hypothesis by saying that "If windows are tinted, assaults on officers are easier to due concealment" due to lack of research data.
I personally think the law should be re-examined, but until then. I mean, I even got this tip from a peace officer! I would have never thought of it. I personally think it makes the car look nicer, stay cooler, and make it easier to look out your side mirrors at night. They also do it to keep the car cool during a hot day. They do it for looks and because it keeps bright lights dim on their side mirrors. but I know quite a few people like to keep their front windows tinted. I'm not really provoking them on purpose. Personally my time is too valuable to spend fighting some pointless court case. Now you tell me, what do you expect to accomplish by provoking a cop? What does this buy you?
